First posting in hearth.com. I've been reading your notes for a couple of years now and have learned a ton of stuff. Thanks to all.
The other night I was blowing some sawdust off my insert while the blower was running and I heard a snap, saw and spark come out out of the motor area and then the blower speed went through the roof and I could no longer control the speed of the motor. The fan still runs but at a high speed and is very loud. I'm woking with my dealer as this should be covered under warranty (bought the insert last Nov). I was just wondering if anyone out there ever has had this happen to them and if so, what did you do to fix it. It may be as simple as getting a new reostat controller?
