The state of Utah is currently suing the Federal government for ownership of all BLM land in the state. Several other states have jumped in to support this suit. It is being presented to the public as a "take your freedom back from the Federal Government" ploy when their intentions are to make money off the land. Resource extraction, but in a larger purpose, land sale is their intent. Outdoor enthusiasts (hunters, fisherman, campers, hikers, animal watchers, etc) are trying to spread the word. Tax dollars are being used to fight a court case that many of the people (rural and urban who enjoy those wild places with freedom existing) do not want.
Just listened to a long podcast on the topic and thought it would make a good discussion.

It would make a good discussion and is important, but political discussions have gone awry too frequently and thus no longer allowed here. There are lots of other forums and social media options for them.

As noted in the forum header:

Debates, controversy and politically orientated discussions are not welcome here - be sure to read the Inglenook rules and suggestions!
