Hi,
I had my chimney cleaned by a pretty reputable company that happens to sell and service Blaze King inserts and stoves, While cleaning my stove they took off a piece of metal with holes in it ( which later I learned was the block off plate shield). They stated that it was hanging on by one loose nut on one side, and that they were taught to always remove these when installing. They also mentioned that the stove would draft much better with it removed. I looked in the manual after they left ( I was working and in meetings all day), and it turns out the manual does so to remove it for installation, but to then put it back. My question is, is this a big deal to not have, or is it a horse piece? will the stove operate fine without it? These guys did a great job on both stoves, and were meticulous in every aspect of the service, I don't want to get them in trouble, but I also don't want to ruin my stove. Any help the more experienced members can give is appreciated. Before you ask, my chimney is between 14.5 and 15' tall....lol Thanks!
