Hi - I am on my second season with a Blaze King Ashford 25 - I am heating a 2500 sq ft ranch as a secondary heat source. I am burning a combination of kiln dried and seasoned hard wood. I don’t have a reading on moisture of seasoned wood but it appears and burns as dry wood. My question is on what surface temperature I should expect from the insert. I get the stove consistently to 250 - 300deg F. This also is the range when the catalytic thermometer indicates a temperature high enough to engage. The fire box is loaded full ( not stuffed fully )with small/ medium sized split wood. Chimney height is approximately 25 feet. I feel I should be getting a higher burn temp from what others are posting- damper is also run on wide open setting. Other somewhat related question is on overnight burns with cat engaged and damper 1/4 to 1/2 closed, next morning viewing glass is smoked or burned and in need of cleaning?
Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated - Thank you!
