I have a Pacific Energy Supper 27. This is our second year using it and up until this year the glass always remained pretty clear. But now after every burn thick black smut sticks on to a corner of the glass. Any idea what his is happening?
Is the wood slightly longer this year and close to the glass? If not, examine the gasket to make sure it is still glued in place. If it is coming loose it will need to be restuck. Also, look for any charcoal pieces that may have accidentally gotten embeded in the gasket at that location.

With splits or rounds very close to the glass this is comon. Especially if loaded N/S as the ends point to the glass and emit preburnt gasses that hit the glass. Blackness can quickly develop.
Also any wood not dry enough will also cause it no matter how it's placed inside the stove.
Yes, I had an oversized split on the top the other day. It just squeeked in about 1" from the glass. I was rewarded with a big black smudge in that location. Fortunately, it burned off with the next reload and hot fire. Still, I'd check the door gasket if it's showing up in the corners. The glue may not be holding there .
