Thought I was going to remain woodless this winter, but happened across a few cut slabs at the side of the road, plus some other scrounged stuff-been burning for a week or two now and have enough for a couple more. Need to drive around more looking for more tree service remnants!
It burns great as well-sitting here with a nice fire going.
As someone once wrote a long time ago-"All's well that ends well."

The problem is that you are in Oklahoma. I don't think trees grow there.

Correction - there were a few

Any wood you can find ought to season fast when the wind comes whippin' 'cross the plain.

And the wav'in wheat, will sure smell sweet, when the seasoned armadillo's are on the raaaaaaaaannnge! OOOOAKlahoma.... (really sorry about that.) :red:

If you can try to find some pallets or cut off waste from construction sites (ask first). But stay away from pressure treated.Good Luck

Pict what part of Oklahoma are you in? NE OKC here and in the country surrounded by trees. Still cleaning up the stuff from the last ice storm two years ago.

dante2-I'm from near Guthrie. I bought a new chain for my small Stihl and cut down a couple of dead trees this weekend. Split it and now it's on my porch. got enough now for a couple of weeks more burning. It's oak and another unknown species. I have 5 acres here with woods on about a thied of it. Mostly oak trees, with cedars growing up right beside them (which I'm slowly cutting down). I found anothe couple of trees which might furnish more good ready to burn wood, so at least i've some kind of back up.
I live in Oklahoma, but I'm from Scotland originally and I'm used to cold winters, but I must say i like a nice warm house.
My council (government) house in Scotland had ice INSIDE the windows in winter.
folk that for a laugh.

Wow you are a long way from home. We are from northern California ourselves. Good job on getting more wood ready for the cold. I am trying to get next years ready this year. I have a good spot behind the house that I can put 9 face cords that will get north and south exposure. That last ice storm we had we lost power for 6 days. We got our stove late winter last year. We may lose power but we won't be cold again for sure.
