Bucked up a couple recently fallen storm damage trees that died a few years ago. An oak with a semi rotted outer core and then a decent Virginia pine.

I got a couple years ahead in my woodpile, then got lazy and only have half my wood for next year. :( This stuff was standing dead so should dry out by next season if I can get it split soon. I gotta start watching craigslist more regularly and get some good hardwood scores...

Do what you can right now a cover the tops of your stacks.
 
It doesn't look great but I can tell the oak there will be good. A little punky but oak is oak. Good score.
