Not for nothin, but......I didn't see an illustration in my Owners Manual for the way the damper is constructed; (it's shape, it's mechanical design, etc..)

Can someone with experience with these units create a Paint file or something (basically a print that shows the approximate mechanical dimensions and configuration for the damper on this model made in 2009. This is a "Rev 2" product).

I'd like to see with my own eyes (I didn't examine the heck outa it when I got it), how it functionally works, and what the thing looks like.

And before you ask, "no" is the answer. The Supplier had nothing they could send me. Perhaps it's proprietary info..
I'm hoping that one of you folks has taken one apart, or knows the "typical" construction of these.

Page 33 shows the interior construction of the fire box.

Edit: wait, you talking about the primary air lever?

yes..........the primary air lever and the way it's built into the unit.

My bad. I was thinking maybe that model had a bypass damper, as some Travis products do. I've no clue how the internals of their air controls work, sorry.

the air control rod controls 3 air inlets, all inline. remove the philiph head screw below the control rod, and the whole spring loaded assy comes out. at that point how it works will be fairly self explanitory...

edit, slot one goes to primary air
slot two goes to the door air wash
and slot 3 goes to the secondary burn tubes.

i might have 2 and 3 backwards...

note: you will see that none of the shutters completely close off the air, it wouldn't pass epa cert if so( modify at your own risk!!)

Wood Heat Stove: Thanks, that helps. I'll assume the order you gave them, is the order in which they close off, for logical reasons. I visualize a plate that slides in grooves, with some backlash to the rod/plate mechanism. I would have imagined that even in the full-pull condition, there is still some air flow..........fire must have air to live.

Pagey: no worries M8!
