After 10 years I replaced my Avalon Olympic door gasket. I installed the correct size gasket 7/8. Removing the old gasket was easy. It came right out and most of the original cement came out also and I wire brushed the channel and got it good and clean. I installed a Rutland door gasket and use the rutland cement and the job was easy. Here's the part I don't understand. The door handle has 4 washers on it and and the manual says to remove one washer if the door doesn' seal tight enough. I did this and I ended up removing all the washers and the door still doesn't seal air tight. It fails the dollar bill test badly. Is my gasket not the correct thickness? Should I have gotten The Avalon OEM gasket. When I close the door it feels like it is closing tightly but the dollar bill slips easily in and out of the closed door. Is there a diference in 7/8 gaskets. It lays flat in the gasket channel so if it protruded out more this would solve the problem. Anyhelp appreciated.
