Hey everyone. I have a Jötul 163 (160mm outlet). I'm attaching stove pipe from the back of the stove and the supplier has given me 150mm single walled pipe for the outlet and then attach to the start module which is 150mm going to the double insulated pipe that will pass through the wall. My concern is that the supplier has told me it's fine to use the single walled 150mm and just use the provided Jötul fire cement to close the gap around the outlet.
If you know this model it's inside the back of the stove and impossible to reach down the side, it has cast iron at an angle all around so the outlet is barely accessible from the back. Outlet also has three "tabs" and isn't like a male socket which would allow you to spread the cement thick. It's a massive pain and I think this is crazy. Has anyone ever used cement to seal a 150mm pipe in a 160mm outlet? I'm looking at 160mm single walled pipe that I could reduce to 150mm for the start module but the inspection is next week and it's probably not going to arrive here in time. Manufacturer sees no problem with this but I've never seen it done.
Also the room is freezing and the cement has zero details on it. It is completely illegal for me to burn anything in the stove before the inspection and the reason we are fitting the stove is because there's no heat. Feel like the cement won't cure properly and they're making this impossible to pass. Thought it would be smart to slowly heat the stove after a few hours, let the cement cool again and then be able to add more cement on any cracks that appear.
