Looking at getting the below ash vac and wondering how everyone likes it, also what filters does it come with depending on what im reading 1-3 filters are in it including a hepa. Used to use a shop vac until i accidently vacuumed up some hot embers and it caught on fire while vacuuming, Then grabbed a US stove vacuum from the local store and it was a pc of garbage and hard to find filters for since the washable filter in it rotted out after a year.

Have had the Powersmith ash vac for 5 or 6 years. Works great. Sure has gone up in price since then, but what hasn't. Haven't had a problem with it. There was an older thread on here talking ash vacs, Powersmith and several other brands. Can't find it.

Thanks for the info.. yes i did find the older thread and ended up ordering one. Still really have not figured out the filter thing, i know it comes with the cone/bag filter, but could not find info anywhere if it comes with a pleated filter as well, i found the pleated filter online. Hoping that is not something else i have to order. WIth asma in the hose i want to keep the fine dust down as much as possible

Mine didn't come with a pleated paper filter. The cone/bag filter works very well. My stove is in the basement and it can be rather dark at times. Using the ash vac, I don't see any ash in the air at all. No smell or taste. To clean it, I just bang the filter on my trailer tire and I'm good for a couple more cleanings. I also use it in my fireplace too, works great. I don't use the supplied plastic or steel tubes on the hose. I found a piece of silicone hose about a foot long to replace them. I like that much better.
