I searched but didn't find anything. What are you guys using for ash cans/buckets? Does it need to have a top? What size would you recommend for someone like me with a 1.1 cubic ft stove?

I don't fill them all the way up to the top (so they won't spill), and let them sit in an open space on my concrete basement floor until I get around to emptying, which is usually when they are all full and I need room for more ashes, or there is ice on the driveway.

That's what we have but purchased it at the local farm store. Once the 5 gallon can is filled, contents are transferred to a 33 gallon galvanized garbage can with another tight fitting lid. Once or twice during the heating season the 33 gallon gets filled up and then I put an ad on Craig's List for "Ashes - Free" - there is always a taker.
