Title says it all... It's not listed a draft booster and I'm not a fan of directional wind vane style (moving parts bad)


Its got a baffled double cone arrangement that probably does not need any additional rain cap despite the open top look.

Thoughts?

I think the consensus around here is "don't mess with it unless you really have downdraft problems" - people in valleys and other inversion zones who experience regular downdraft problems.

If you can use a simple cap, use a simple cap.
 
I'm in a pretty flat / exposed area and draft can swing wildly during our frequent 15-45mph wind gusts. I decided against it simply because it looks impossible to clean.
 
Looks like it might be a decent option for folks that live in frequent or steady high wind locations.

I agree the overall disign looks solid. I may keep it and modify it.... Drill some of the spot welds and replace them with 10-24 nutserts.
