Anyone have this LL Bean storage rack?

Price is pretty good $89. I like the design, the height off the floor, and the side rails. I could build something similar myself out of 2x4s for probably $50 less, but it'd be made out of 2x4s

I'm looking at the large one. Based upon the size, I'm estimating that would give me a 10 day supply during the coldest times and fit into my garage nicely.

Anyone have this? Comments?

Similar rack from landman on Amazon is only $49. I have 4 of them for almost a year now sitting outside and they hold up pretty well.

I'm pretty sure its not made by LLBean, probably the exact same rack you can pick up at HD, Northern Tool or on Amazon for less.

I have a 3/4 of a circle tube steel rack in my living rom. Holds enough for about 3-4 days of 24 hour burning. Don't recall where I got it, I think I got it used about 15 years ago.

As you mentioned, you could make something similar out of 2x4's...hell my grocery store sells bracket kists to make racks with. I think if you used good grade wood and stained it or painted it nicely, it could add to your room. But thats just me and I'm cheap.

To be clear, this is going into the garage (next to the inherited Porsche from my father, so it can't be unstable or risky) to keep me stocked up with dry wood.

I might try the 2x4 with brackets painted black.

Was also considering this to load up out in the garage and bring in. Comments? Place to find cheaper?

If you go with the 2x4 brackets, I've tried "Stack It" (steel) and "EZ Stacker" (plastic) brackets and like the latter a little better. Both work as specified, but the Stack It brackets can rust and require deck screws to secure the 2x4's. EZ Stacker only needs 2x4's and you can disassemble them and change lengths with ease (no screws involved).

As far as the LLBean rack goes, it does look similar to others at big box stores. Also add Tractor Supply stores to Lowes, HomeDepot, et al., if you want to see some models in person and for a lower price.

I'll check out a few alternatives however, I will note, when I've looked around for similar racks they've been above $100.

We primarily use Stack It. I prime and paint mine with Rustoleum and they seem to hold up well. We had some Home Depot gift cards a few years ago and bought some of the metal bracket Us that attach to 2x4s. Primed and painted those as well. Once bought metal storage brackets that showed rust after just a few weeks outside so they all get extra protection. Anyhow, I like the Stack It a little better. If I recall correctly they are made in the US.

We've had the almost identical racks for 25+ years and are very pleased with them...they're solid and handle abuse well.

I have that. My wife bought it 6 years ago. We keep it on the front porch during burn season and I take it apart and store it in the summer. It has held up fine. It holds about 1 1/2 weeks worth of wood for us.

In the spring, our local supermarket reduced the price of the Rutland brackets to $3.95. I bought three sets and PT 2X4's and have two 8' racks outdoors and one 4' rack in the semi heated porch. Keep about a weeks worth of wood indoors. Seems to work well.
