A little background. The house is a year old well insulated, in floor heating with a muchkin wall hung boiler that keeps the house heated just fine.
there is plenty of free wood in the area from the power companies line clearing. Has anyone installed a homemade boiler to supplement their heating and been happy? . thought about putting one in the attached garage, so waste heat would end up heating the garage and not be a total waste. I am more concerned about not smoking out the neighbors than getting max efficiency. This would just be a supplement not the main heating system.
I have looked at commercial units but the payback would take a long time. Who has done it and been happy?
