The local pellet stove business(broken link removed to http://nh.craigslist.org/bfs/4919654879.html).

Guess I gotta hope that I can get the 40 bags I still have left to pick up from pre-paying. This guy hasn't been open for 2 weeks so I haven't been able to pick them up so far (not that there were any in their yard anyway). Actually, when I stopped by on Saturday, they had a sign on the door that they would be open this Monday and have pellets. However, the only time I can get there this week is on Saturday.

Sorry for his wife's issues (I had a relative die recently of the same thing - so know how tough it is), and hope he can sell for a decent price. Anyone on the forum want to buy the place?

My guess if you or someone you know isn't there on Monday you will not be getting your pellets. This situation is volatile and sooner the better if you can get them. Good luck.

Yeah, well earliest I can get there is maybe Friday. Don't know anyone who can sub for me, so I may just be eating that $210. Fortunately don't need pellets, just don't want to be out the money.

I'm sure it's difficult for the owner to predict when they can be there - I'm just sure the situation is volatile but not forgotten. Either mail/leave a note, or reply to his business listing, with your number asking him to call if he or someone else can be available on a Saturday to let you pick up the rest of your pellets.

Given the choice I'd rather be inconvenienced about pellets than lose my wife. I had a problem with a local u-store-it place getting me back my security deposit. Had several missed promises and was really starting to fume over the $50 or $75 - it felt like I was being dodged. A week or two later I read his wife's obit in the local paper, and felt pretty bad.

Hope it all works out, for you, and for them.

I see he has coal stokers too. I spy a Reading Stoker in the corner. Does he sell hard coal too?

I'm not sure about the coal - but I would guess so. I do know that the local Aubuchon's sells coal (and maybe Agway too).

I know that he is doing the best he can. I was fuming about a week ago because there were only closed signs on the door, no one answered the phone, and the voice mail was full. Then when I went by last Saturday, he had a note up about family illness, so I callmed down. If I don't get the pellets, it's not like I would try to sue or anything - I feel horrible about his wife (she was the one at the counter), and he definitely should be more worried about her than the business.

Is that a red sided Hudson river Saratoga? Oh my, the absolute worst stove ever made. Thought the last of those burnt down in the fire at Amanda's stove shop!

How much is what i wanna know. B grade stoves, a fork lift and a few hundred loyal customers....

I think one of his ads (there were several) said 150k

And, in his defense, the only other places that sell stoves around here, besides the St. Croix place that is only open for a couple hours on Saturday - and has like 5 stove, have worse than B grade stoves IMO. If a place around here sells pellets, they cost more and some no longer sell pellets since he came to town, Those other places don't do cleanings, servicing or installing. Also, you pick the pellets up as needed - good for those that don't have a lot of room for storage. On the down side, he doesn't deliver pellets, but I guess if you can store enough pellets to justify the cost of delivery around here, then you probably aren't a customer anyway.

Have you tried Home& Hearth in Hampton Falls? They sell A grade stoves, and they're good folks.

I'm not looking for a stove, or anything else.

The good news is that the guy's wife made it thru the surgery successfully. He is not going out of business, just looking to sell the store as his wife cannot put in the hours anymore.

Second best news was that I was able to pick up half of what I had left from my pre-buy, he has plenty of pellets now, and will get another delivery soon, so should be able to pick up the rest of my pre-buy an another week or two.
