Aladdin Quadrafire - Cannot get baffle nut off clean firebox inside top heat exchanger tubes?

The nut turns with the threads so I cut it off!
Last pic shows bolt that turns?
Is this right?
How should it be??
What is the best fix??

Here is a better pic of the top of the bolt that is stuck in there.
Getting it off with vise grips and a screwdriver to hold the nut!
Got it out!

Was that on a 1000? Not a lot of 80s quads around these parts.
No it is a CB1200 Classic Bay just a very old Aladdin version. Now I think I can add some threaded rod or weld a nut in and I will be all set :)
