Advice on wood stove plus gas furnace household arrangement

Our Vermont Castings Defiant Encore is on the main level of the house. It heats reasonably well, but like many wood stoves, doesn't really reach into the bedrooms, or the finished basement. (At least that's my experience. We also have some drafty windows and old insulation.) So we have supplemented with a gas furnace.

The old furnace finally went kaput. I could just buy a new one, but do you all recommend any creative options here? I'm shooting for a solution that is relatively inexpensive and relies a bit more on the wood stove we have. Seems a shame to not be able to use it more (I can get wood, and I have two teenage boys for splitting), but I really can't get the heat to circulate through the house very well.

This is a common question. The best first step is to seal up drafty windows and bolster insulation where needed. There are dozens of past threads on the topic. The best solution depends on the floorplan of the house. A ranch needs a different solution from a colonial. If a sketch can be posted, that would be helpful.

Thanks for the replies; had to deal with a funeral since I posted so I'm just getting back to this.

I decided that a fan installed into the wall would be more effective, cheaper and easier to install. I only need to mostly move the hot air from the room with the stove into the adjacent room (kitchen/dining room) that is hard to get the heat to move into. Also, I can see how these systems are code in Australia where they have very mild conditions in winter. It would lose quite a bit of heat in many parts of Canada, if it went through an uninsulated attic, even with insulated ducting.

Sorry guys, this is going to be a long one.
I’ve read several threads about this and the common answer is to move the cold air. I’ve tried a few different ways without success.

So my stove makes the kitchen and dining room, living area 90+ degrees and the bedrooms are in the 60’s.

Here’s a layout of the house and I’ll explain the problem below.

The air movement through the house sucks and I have limited options. The house has a basement and all the HVAC is in the basement. All duct work is ran through the slab and is in ground.
