enviro ef3 insert issues

Hi my buddy has a 2yr old enviro ef3 insert which worked fine all last season.He did a complete clean job a few days ago and went to do a trial burn to see how the fruits of his cleaning labor payed off.He pushed the start button with the auger feed on half way.The green light came on and stayed on(solid green light) no auger action what so ever.I s this a faulty switch?the stove worked fine last season and now this issue any ideas where he should start trouble shooting?Thanks guys

yes it started up and sounded ok but the green feed light stays solid geen(wont flash) no pellets feeding to burn pot.Should he try and apply poer directly to the auger motor to see if the auger is jammed?

Normally you can hear the auger attempting to turn.

I'd look up the drop chute and remove the pellets from the hopper and remove the auger flight cover if it can be removed.

That light being on usually indicates a feed should occur, but there are several things besides an auger jam that prevents feeding.

Vacuum switch not closing is one. High limit tripped is another.

Vacuum switches themselves rarely fail, ash in the tube from the switch to the stove or in the barb where the tub attaches to the stove are two places to check. Also cracks in the tubing or a bad seal at the places where it hooks into the stove and vacuum switch.

The high limit can be auto reseting or manual if manual it will have to be reset by pressing the little red button between the switch terminals on press that button with the stove powered off and unplugged.

The vacuum switch can also be a multi-port switch and the tubing was removed and then reconnected to the wrong port, likewise the vacuum switch can have multiple sets of wire terminals
and if the wiring was played with and put back wrong it won't work as desired.

Did he remove the combustion blower and clean it? Did he clean his exhaust system from top to bottom (cap to combustion blower)? If the exhaust is blocked (birds nest, mouse nest, ash plug, etc, etc) the stove will not have enough vacuum to make vacuum switch close...that means auger won't operate.

air flow switch nipple on the exhaust path toward the combustion motor is plugged...may lightening strike me down if I am wrong

Yes. Look for the orange hose going to the vacuum switch, you want the end not connected to the vacuum switch.

Its a poor design on enviros part....that area where the hose reads pressure from is an ash trap and often while a person is cleaning ash is pushed into the barbed nipple. Poke a drill bit in there ans blow through the hose. Remember to put the hose back on to the switch on the low pressure port whoch os marked with an L and should be the upper one if everything is factory.
