The previous owner rigged something up here with furnace piping which is illegal. Do I have a legal option here to connect to my existing piping?

Chimney guy said my two options that he sees are to connect 3 30 degree pieces which would be illegal, connect 3 30 degrees with 1 foot pieces in between which would be legal, or to move the piping over to where the wood storage section is. If I were to do that I feel like I might as well demo the wood storage section so I can fit the entire insert in there (not sure how reasonable that is). An insert is outside of my budget since I'd need nearly $2000 of masonry work done inside the chimney plus a liner.

Edit: Chimney guy called me back and said that 3 30 degree pieces with 6" segments between them would be legal and would be $550 in materials. He quoted me $1000 for the whole job including fixing the hole into the house since it needs to be cut into a square not a circle.
