I currently have 8" Duraliner Rigid "1/2 insulated" (8 5/8" outter diameter) in my chase. In less than two years the top section rotted through both above and below the storm collar. Duraliner will replace any damaged pieces and I plan to pull the liner out to check soon. I suspect its mostly the top piece but this has me concerned. I'll be doing zinc rich paint and a thin coat of silicone on the last section in hopes this extends the life. I don't have much faith in their product with the galvalume outer layer so I want to see what else is an option. I don't recall exactly the inner dimensions but measuring the outside I should have around 9 to 9.5" inside and probably two feet wide. Prior owner had an uninsulated ovaled liner with some vermiculite at the bottom but nothing the last 12' or so of the total 16'.

Sounds like an insulated flex liner would be my only option due to the size. I know they make oval liners which would easily fit but all of those are the lightweight .005/.006 and that's not something I'm interested in. I don't want to have to worry when I'm cleaning it. I know there are mid-heavy weight liners like Amor Flex/Hybrid at .010 but can those be ovaled by hand maybe 1/2" off of round? I'd do a 1/2" insulation wrap which should allow me to do zero clearance if I understand it right.

Rockford lists their insulated flex that has a 430 SS outer layer at 9.125" which might fit as is or just ovaled a 1/4" or so but I suspect its a lightweight liner. They have a premium .010 which insulation available but would that be approved for zero clearance with their DIY insulation?

I know there are some rigid single wall options that have rigid insulation that can go on them. I'd think those could be bent out of round enough to work. That would probably be my top choice.

Rockford claims their premium .010 liner cannot be ovalized or it will split. However Copperfield claims their Forever Flex can be ovaled:

Heavywall can absolutely be ovalized but absolutely not by hand. I can order oval heavy wall from just about any of my suppliers

I'm glad you confirmed this. If I need to go to a flex liner I really do not want a light weight liners. What would you install for a heavy wall insulated 8" 0/0 clearance in my case, such as thickness of the liner?

I wonder why none of the sites offer mid or heavy oval flex or that as an optional service. Must be a race to the bottom online. Its a shame something like Duraliner is outrageously priced but inadequate materials are used. I've seen Copperfield list JUST the tee at over $600!
