Well we got all the lots cleared at work this mornin and now decided to wait the storm out before we start again. Definately a good thing we did cause that 2" of frozen slush woulda made it hell to plow in the mornin! We got about 6" over night and should have another 8" on top of that by midnight. Oh and we beat the all time record for total snowfall in this area.

So im finally home and able to enjoy the nice warm stove and take a few photos.

It's very pretty! But boy is it a lot of work.

Nice pics
Looks like a wet, sticky heavy snow. Bad for trees & power lines.
Your power still on?
I heard lost of power outages everywhere.

Still have power as of right now (knock on wood). It was supposed to be a light fluffy snow but it's the complete opposite. I was just outside and could hear a few branches breakin in the woods so there's a good chance we might lose power if that keeps up. I had to trim a couple branches off the pine tree on the corner of my house cause they were hangin on the line pretty bad. They snapped right back up once i cut some end weight off em.

Good luck
We all know you'll be warm
& it's possible to cook with almost any wood stove.
Can always melt (white) snow for water. :) Which is sounds like you have plenty of.
Kids love fresh snow cones (we used cool aid & sugar)

This storm dumped a lot more on us compared to the last one. Pics of the house, woodpile, path to the wood (I have plenty at the house, but I know before this all melts I will need to get back there), and front. You might see in the pic of the house, I tried taking some of the snow off the roof. There was a good foot from last storm and the way the wind has been blowing, there is a pretty big drift up there. I am scared to death the freaking thing might give way...they have been showing pics on the news of collapsing roofs. I got about halfway up on front and back of the roof. The snow was very heavy and I feel better knowing I got a lot off of it.

Also, still waiting for the baby. An overdue wife going stir crazy will keep you shoveling and doing things like raking snow off a roof...lol

Better to be safe than sorry, although the roof was probably fine but now you know it is.
Stay ready, busy & out of her way until your needed.
Sounds like the worst is over, you'll have time to catch up till the next storm.
I heard the National Guard was using Humvees & other equip in PA to get folks needing help to the hospital.
That would make a story for the family:
"Mom rode a Military Transport to the hospital to deliver you during the big snow storm of 2010 "
Or "Woman gives birth in a Military Humvee during snow storm, Mom & baby fine, but Dads a nervous wreck :)

Thanks for the pic
Good luck & congratulations

These photos are a good warning/reminder to us all that having a wood heat appliance puts us in the small percentage of people who are actually ready in the event of nature taking us down a notch or two as modern society.

When my 16 year old rolls her eyes and covers her ears everytime she hears me obsessing about our "long awaited-almost ready to go" woodstove install I tell her that all of her friends and their families will be freezing in the dark while we are toasting out of our home with dry firewood stored up and a well that we can easily draw water from.

There were two significant stretches in my childhood when our region had the power knocked out due to ice/snow and both times we stayed put and stoked up the stove.

If there is any one thing that has kept me going in our oft-discussed battle with insurance companies to be covered as we install a stove is the reality that in our area, Western Canada (today is minus 16 celsius), we are only one bad storm away from going back 100 years.

I believe it was in Richmond or near Hampton Roads that 29 building collapsed due to heavy snow

I was up on the roof last night clearing out 3' deep of packed snow. For the most part we have very steep A-Frame roofs, but the one section has a very gentle slope that can really collect some snow.

Here's some from my neck of the snow covered woods.

If you are referring to the attached photo, than yes, that stack is uncut logs seven and a half feet high.

The snow mound further back is this years fire wood that has a tarp over it. Took a while to dig it out..

The last storm gave us about 20".

Yeah, and the wolf, he's a fierce one:
