Man these pellets burn hot!

My cat would stay on top of my stove wen I was burning Lignetics. They burned pretty good and the cat would sleep on top of the stove all while it was on.

With these Green Team pellets it gets too hot for her! I can't hold my hand on any part of the top for more than 5 seconds, and that's on setting #2!

I'm going to buy a ton, probably 2, this week and sock them away for next year.

FG.

I am also highly thinking of getting this brand, for me here in CT is $275/ton plus delivery, when I tried this brand it burned very hot and nice with a fine ash.
The bag from this dealer is a tan light bround and it says Greene Team Gold Premium, supposed to be exactly the same as the one in Lowes, just different bag.

I picked up a dozen bags last week and asked the guy about future availability. He said they're now planning on stocking pellets year round.

Just FYI.

FG.

Hey FG, How ya doing?

How do these compare to the Barefoot pellets? They were the best I have tried in the Omega so far.

How's your Omega doing??? Mine is still doing GREAT!!!

Geek,

I am looking for these to try, Where did you find them???

Thanks

Hey Jay!

Haven't burned Barefoot's yet so I can't compare but they are hotter than Lignetics for sure.

I was surprised at the difference. Lignetics are good but these are definitaly better. If you were nearby I'd give you a few bags just to prove it.

297/ton picked up at the Lowes up my way.

The stove is great. It is a true heating appliance. Low maintence. I fill the hopper once every 2.5-3 days and forget about it.

It was a very good decision.

FG.

Looks like I have to try me some! They are around $275 here and not to far to travel. I will let you know how they compare to the barefoots I have been playing with.

I agree 100% about the Omega. It was a very good decision. Except I have to find things to keep myself busy. I have been cleaning every 2 weeks just cause I keep getting bored. Think I have 2 others looking into one. Just because of the extra heat it throws out and a plus with the multi fuel. Yup, They are also "E" owners. Got them very jealous with my stove!!!

This is the 1st year ever that I have not burned 4 tons yet! And I not sure I will even get there either! I normally burn 5 tons to heat this shack! If it saves me a ton for the next 2 years it will have paid for itself along with what it will save me over electric! Wife can't believe I made a good call buying it. Since I picked the "E" out.

I actually got 4 bags of Maine woods that were from the bad batch for free! yep FREE. A friend of a friend said he was going to chuck them in the driveway as sand. I said I would like to try them. He laughed and said my stove would just get filled with ash. (I should have bet him.) Stove burn them with no issues! So he want's to check it out! My wife has a few friends that have normal stoves and want to come check it out too! I'm thinking I might be able to charge admission fee's here soon!

Stay safe and keep in touch!

Hey Jay,

Here's an update on the Green Team pellets, all these observations are vs. the Lignetics pellets, heretofor refered to as LG's:

I started the stove up about an hour ago and watched the startup closely.

The fire started much much quicker. And once the convection blowers started up the air coming out was a lot warmer vs. the LG's at that begining phase. Took a bit longer for that air to be as warm burning the LG's. It was warm to start with the LG's but not nearly as much.

I noticed the fire in the burnpot spread across the entire pot a lot quicker too. The burnport was burning end to end in a matter of a few minutes after the fire started.

That also took longer with the Lignetics. You know how many pellets the stove dumps into the pot at startup. Quite a few and with the Green Team pellets they all lit up much quicker.

Also, you know the cover that sits on top of the heat exchanger cleaning rods. That never got too hot to keep my hands on with the LG's. That's the spot my cat has been crashing on with the LG's and I could hold my hand on that plate forever if I wanted. It was very warm but not too hot to keep my hand on there. With the GT pellets even that plate is too hot to keep my hand on for more than 5 seconds when the stove is up to temp.

Bottom line:

You have to try these pellets!

I've been doing yard work the last few days so tomorrow I'm going to break from that and pick up 2 tons of GT's from Lowes for next season.

FG.

P.S.

The Lignetics are very good pellets but now I know there is better product out there.

Ive been saying for most of the winter.......Green Team are the best out there,by far !!!!!!

I found a local stove place that has them. Going there Saturday to pickup a few bags to try. I won't buy any tonage from him, Not at 315/ton. But at $6.25 a bag it worth trying a few because he's close. I will post how they compared to the Barefoots I have been burning. As I said before there a HIGH heat pellet. And The best I have used so far.

Will post my results.

Hey Jay,

I just finished stacking a ton of GWP in the garage. $297/ton.

Even the early buy deals are $300/ton delivered for pellets I've never tried. So I figured I could pick these up myself 5 miles away and get them home, and they are a known quanity, quality wise, to me now.

I made room for 2 more tons in the garage. After this season I now know I need ~3.5 tons average per season.

Maybe tomorrow I'll try and find some Barefoots around here.

FG, I purchased a few bags the other day myself to try them. They are fantastic! As you indicated earlier they are even hotter burning than Lignetics.

I also had my stove thoroughly cleaned by my dealer today and asked his opinion. He said that he had customers who had their augur jammed, because the length of a few of the pellets can be longer than 2". I would definitely concur on the length, as I found quite a few pellets to be 1 1/2 - 2".

Having said that, he told me that he has burned them in his enviro empress fs and has never had a problem. So bottom line, if your augur can handle the extra length of some of the pellets, no problem.

I live north 15 miles away, so if they have them next season, I may just load up on them. 2 weeks ago I had 3 tons of Lignetics delivered, so for now I'm in good shape.

let us know your test/comparison results....would be nice how the Greene Team pellet would compare to the Barefoot....

..

Hey CountK,

I'm going to wait for Jay's comparison of the Green Teams's vs. the Barefoots before I buy my next 2 tons.

I have a price request on 2 tons of Barefoot's delivered from PelletsDirect.

So if Jay says the Barefoots are hotter than the Green Team's then I'll consider the price pelletsdirect gives me on the 2 tons of Barefoots. I'll have to weigh all the factors.

If the Barefoots are just a little hotter but will cost too much I"ll stick with the GT's, etc. It's gotta be worth the extra money for me to do it. Right now the Barefoots will cost $289.00 plus delivery for June delivery. I don't know what the delivery charge is yet but it's gotta be more than 11 bucks per ton.

I'm glad you had the same observation of the Green Team's vs the Lignetics. Even though it was obvious to me that they were hotter now we can be sure it's because the pellet itself just plain burns hotter, and not because of some other unknown factor.

FG.

and I think we're "running out of time" to perform some test comparison because the weather is getting warmer....Monday will be a cool day here in CT, I think it will be in the upper 40s only.....so let's make sure we do our tests soon, I'll do my final one also with the Greene Team Gold Premium and report back in a couple days.

FG and Geek,

I finished my test with the Green Team Pellets this morning. Here are my results comparing the pellets tested so far. The Green Teams are tide for 3rd place with the Rocky Mountain Pellets.

Barefoot 270°
Turmans 251°
Grn Team 250°
Rocky Mtn 250°
Spruce Pt 248°
Dry Crk 246°
NEWP 245°
Michigan 241°
Premier 241°
Maine WD 230°

All the pellets were tested with my Omega on the medium setting (3-3). Damper was pulled out until I had an uneven burn and pushed in so it just kept the flame consistent. I let the stove run for ½ an hour. I took my 1st temp reading. Then I took a reading every 15 min. for another 1 hr. All temps are averaged from my temp readings. I use a temp probe held in front of the heat exchanger. It is always tested in the same place to keep in fair.

I really don’t care so much about the ash and the fine’s, I just want the most heat I can get! I have 2 tons now and need 2 more to have enough for next winter. So I will get at least a ton of Barefoots for the really cold days and 1 ton’s of something in the top 8 tested that I can get cheap! Around $250 or less. Still waiting for the prices on one pellet house to roll in.

Jay

Great info Jay! Wow, those Barefoot's really burn hot! Now I'm curious where the Lignetics fall in that category. They gotta be 10* less than the GT's.

My only problem now is where can I find Barefoots. I'm going to call the plant tomorrow to ask about distrubuters in my area.

They must burn super hot. Wow. 20* is a huge differenct.

Thanks again for the great info!

The Maine Woods don't surprize me. Crapola.

FG.
