Hello all, as some of you may know I have had many problems with my XXV purchased in Oct-08. The dealer today agreed to take it back and give me a replacement. I know I don't want an XXV with the new direct drive auger system, but they have a few of the chain drive XXV's left. So I have a choice of replacing the XXV with the chain drive or, for a little more money I can replace it with a Quadrafire Mount Vernon AE.

I am curious to hear about any experiences with the MT Vernon Quadrafire units. I know the older chain drive XXV would probably run trouble free.

I may have just had a (bad) XXV, someone has to get the bad ones.............................. :-)

Sorry to hear about your troubles goatman. My (chain-driven auger) XXV has been great for the year I've had it. Good luck on deciding what's best.

For what it's worth this is my second season with my xxv (chain drive) and I have done nothing but dump pellets in it.

Runs non stop 24/7 from October thru March, then it gets a complete cleaning at the end of the heating season.

I do clean burn pot and heat exchanger once a month.

Dan

Thanks for the replies guys. I am leaning more towards another XXV. I am sure that the Mt. Vernon probably has its own issues.............

At the risk of jinxing myself, I am on season #3 with my chain drive XXV
with no issues so far. Of course there are no guarantees of being completely
trouble free with any pellet stove brand so its a chance no matter if you stay
with this brand or get a Quad.

Kudos to the dealer for attempting to make it right for you.
