I bought 5 and it looks like I'll have 1 left over. I have used 1/2 tank of oil for hot water and to supplement heat on the COLD days.

Burning only pellets, I've used 1.5 tons so far as of this past Sunday.

im down to the last 5 bags on my second ton.

i have 3 bags left of my second ton. Use oil for hotwater and to heat one bedroom upstairs on its' own zone. havent called oil company since the second weekend in august. have 2 tons left and looking good, thinking i might have hlaf a ton leftover towards next season. also thinking of installing electirc hotwater heater. any suggestions in regards to a reliable/ efficient one?

Have 10 bags left on the 2nd ton.
Have used about 110 gals oil mainly for hot water
and a little heat for the basement.
Avg since mid October is 1 bag daily.
2 bags a day when it was between -24 and 0

119 bags so far, if it don't warm up I'll be out by 03/01. Either gotta get more or burn oil. Haven't burned any, so far. Tank is full, I'll burn it if I hafta.

I haven't kept track but I bet I have just around 1 ton left out of 3 also. I will also burn oil when they run out. Ordered 100 gallons last April when tank was pretty near empty and haven't bought any since.

Just finished my 5th ton today. Three more to go to finish the season. I heat my 3400 sq ft Vermont house with pellets instead of 1400 gals of fuel oil. Saved a bunch of money and have never been warmer.

8 tons per season!?

Do you only have one stove? If so, do you just keep it on the highest setting all day?

I'm so intrigued...

Only 1 stove heating a 1500 sq. ft. cape. Walled off rooms, not open concept. Stairwell is centrally located, which acts as a chimney for the upstairs bedrooms and bath. It has kept us warm even with -22 temps, did have to crank it up during that cold snap from 1-2 to 5-6 for about half a day just to keep the temp up.

I think BDPVT has a PB105 boiler. I too have a boiler and it looks like I'll be burning a little over 8 tons to heat the house and DHW this year.

I am just over 6 tons so far. I started with 8.5 tons. It does not look like I will make it thru the season. With the price of oil, if pellets do not drop I will finish the year with oil. Pellets around here are still $75+ more a ton than I paid last year.

I have a chance to buy 12 tons of Patterson pellets out of Texas. There is a trucker that rents some wharehouse space for me that needs to get these out of his truck.I never heard of them but have been to there website. They say they are rated at 8600 BTU and have lass than .5% ash. They are softwood.Anyone every used these? I hate to pass this up.But I also hate getting stuck with 12 tons of crap.

I have the same stove just got it 3 weeks ago. I am burning firside ultras and I have to clean stoce every 3-4 days or i lose 3-4 degrees of heat.I get about 71-72 with ouside temp at 20.When we hit the teens and single digits to zero I am at 69. From 25-35 73-75 degrees. Are you seeing the same with yours? Also how often do you clean? I mean exchangers and so on. I scrape pot a few times a day but it seams like on that 4th day I lose heat. I do a 20 min clean pot exchangers the 2 holes with brush and I am back up to nice heat. I am thinking it may be the pellets but I cant tell till i get into my Hammer hot ones in abou a week.I would love to know what brand works best for you and your cleaning scedule.

Thanks
Anthony

Just finished my second ton this week as well. Have two more to go and two more months of winter left thanks to that pesky, scaredy-cat ground hog. Hope I can stretch them.
