Hi guys...Help....The primary control lever will latch to open and stay there, but when moved towards closing just snaps closed. I have the right inside fire wall off and can see all the mechanism, the two springs and cable LOOK ok.. The lower primary door moves freely from open to closed. I'm thinking one of the springs is not set correctly. Before I took the inside fire wall off I couldn't set it to open it would just flop back closed..So I think I'm making progress but can't figure out how it should work. I also can't get the set screw off the outside where the handle attaches..but have some WD-40 soaking it now.
Any help gladly accepted.

So the rebuild manual mentions how to set the tension if the door just flops closed. Once I got the set screw loose on the outside primary air lever, I pushed the whole assembly from the inside out towards the lever, and reset the Allen screw on the lever. Now the silver spring on the shaft has tension against the primary air lever and I can set it to what ever position I want fully open, 1/2 open, 3/4 open or closed and it stays where it is set..
