This cat came out of a 1998 Woodstock Fireview and has never been fired but it was sitting in a leaky old barn for all this time and there was lots of freezing /thawing and corrosion all around it. There’s no crumbling or cracks. I can’t really tell about the gasket unless I remove it from the cast frame.

Anyone know what the shelf life is of a ceramic cat? I ordered a new steel cat from Woodstock but they are back ordered. If I ever receive my parts for my Fireview rebuild I will probably give this cat a try first or just keep it for a spare if the new steely comes in.

I have used "new old stock" cats in the past and they worked fine, found them on ebay at a fraction of the cost of new ones.

I rebuilt an older catalytic stove and had to find the cat for it, the cat I found was in original box from 1996! Worked fine in that stove, sold it so not sure if it still works.

Thanks for checking Todd. That was my gut feeling. It's good to get a confirmation.
