Gasket silicone?

I need a new door gasket on my summit, question is i herad some one here, used that hi heat 600 f red silicone instead of glue.

Can the silcone take the 1200 plus temperature of the firebox with out melting.

No, but the area of the door frame where the silicone contacts it doesn't reach those temps.
It likely doesn't even get to 600 F.

I used the Rutland black RTV silicone gasket for my Summit door gasket replacement. Works great. Just don't go nuts with it. Anything that oozes out past the gasket on the fire side will burn off. Not a big deal, but it does fog the glass up, which then needs cleaning. Anything under the gasket will be fine.
