What do you make of this?

(broken link removed to http://newhaven.craigslist.org/grd/5297831160.html)

I am offering 200 cubic foot trucks of bargain hardwood.

This is a mixture of hardwood rounds (hickory, maple, oak, cherry) which are cut to length and split if they are 4 inches or larger, or left intact if they are a lesser diameter.

There are also other larger chunks of miscellaneous bargain hardwood mixed in.

My price is starting at $120 per 200 cubic foot truckload. Delivery is additional depending on distance:

Waterbury - No Extra Charge
1 town over - + $25
2 towns over - +$50
3 towns over - +$75

We also have premium split dry hardwood, split green ash, and split green premium hardwood available.

So it is 200 cubic ft which is 1.56 cord
200 divided by 128 = 1.562
1 and a little better than 1/2 cord for $12o
Rounding up it works out to a little less than 80$ a cord
That would be 1 He double L of a better price than people pay around here

The ad says he also has premium hardwood. Sounds like this is how he sells his uglies and sticks. Doesn't make it a bad deal but you may want to ask since may not stack too easy and/or take up more space than clean straight splits.

That is exactly what I do with some of my uglies when I have more than I can burn. I will usually sell them off for 65 a half cord which is about what he is asking.

Also, clarify if it is 200 cubic feet stacked or tossed. 200 cubic feet of loose tossed wood will usually stack out to right around a 4x4x8 cord.

Tree tops. But sounds like a good deal if you get 1+ cords, it will dry fast and make good shoulder or filler wood.
I always use the tops , I dont cut them after the tree is bucked - leave them down for next seasons small wood.
There are 4/5 waiting to be done.

I saw this ad too and don't trust it. 5x5x8=200. Sounds like a small dump truck load. Plus the pictures provided makes it look like its tree tops, which isn't necessarily bad. But the catch is the delivery fees, you are in Hamden, he is in Waterbury. He is going to whack you in delivery fees. Now your $120 turned into $195 minimum.
