Cold in the woods - but beautiful

Cold and LOTS of snow here in western ma.....
Strapped on the snow shoes and took the little gal for a walk...she loves it!

Woods were very pretty. We are looking at -10 chill factors tonight....the coldest of the season so far.

Craig I have an English Springer who thinks she's a Siberian Husky. You have Cav KC's right? It must be something in the family.

We were out for a walk in the woods yesterday early evening when I saw a Snowy Owl dive in the snow about 75 feet in front of us and pick up supper. I had never seen that before and it was pretty cool, an absolutely silent killer. I really prefer the woods in the fall and winter more than I do the spring and summer. Silence and stark stillness compared to leaf obscured views and bugs.

Yes, Rosie is a King Charles Cav.

I'm a sucker for a pretty face....all spaniels have those "bedroom" eyes....and many have similar personalities.
Here is our daughters male (front) and Rosie in the back.....two of them! Double trouble, as we like to say.

My labbies love racing and playing in the snow but they are dangerous. :lol:

They were having so much fun racing around in circles in the last snow/ice storm
both plowed right into me at the same time and knocked my feet out from
under me so fast I broke my tailbone.

My hubby thinks it is so funny that I got caught in the middle of a stampede of
200lbs of labbies. Stick with the little ones, the big ones can be hazardous
to your health on snow walks ;-)

Orange, MA here. Very pretty in the woods, yes, but tough to work in. Generally cut about 25 cord and also some pine logs in the winter for some extra cash and my own use. Even with the below zero temps the past couple nights, there is still mud in some places under the snow. I'm 6'3", and the snow is up to my knees. Dragging a cable and chains around gets tiring rather quickly. Supposed to be in the 50's next week. That will probably make things worse. I'm just getting some trails packed down with the tractor.

it's the first exit after nhamp take a right at the at the end of ramp down the road about a mile thats me going 91 n 91 south get off at the state police exit go across 91 bout 1 mile down the road... great food!!

I'll second that - right down the road from the office (Hatfield). It used to be called the Paddock a few years ago. Small place - good food and prices.
