Never saw the pic you were going to post....did oiling the motor bearings help any?

There are definitely oil ports on the CPM.

Spin motor by hand, 2-3 drops of oil, spin motor by hand, 2-3 drops of oil, spin motor by hand, 2-3 drops of oil, spin motor by hand, etc... Its gonna need more than the 2-3 it should get every 6 months.

Mike responded that given the age of the stove, it turns out that the amount of dust on the squirrel cage of the convection motor could restrict it enough to cause it to over-fire (E3 code). I put a bit of oil on where cladmaster suggested anyhow after it was in. It has been running ever since.

Glad to hear it. Motor bearings/squirrel cage need to be oiled/checked about every ton. Check & clean more often on the cage if you have pets.

That's been added to the list on maintenance. ;) Since doing this maintenance during the winter requires removing the back grill, which also means disconnecting the oak/vent, is there any reason I need to put the back grill back on? I didn't put it back on because I wasn't sure this would solve the problem, and I'd just have to take it off again anyways, but I kinda like the access without it??

I leave mine off all winter....no issues as long as you don't have children or pets who might reach back there.
