046 oiler

I have an 046 that is not oiling. When I rev it up with the bar off nothing comes out of the oil port, however oil leaks out from below the chain tensioner. Also it appears that the bar oil reservoir is full of air bubbles. I ordered a new pump and worm gear. Do you guys think these parts will fix the problem or am I missing something else? Thanks

I have never heard of an oil pump dying...
Make sure the pump is actuality being driven, worm gear and the connection to the clutch
I would make sure the oil pickup wasn't plugged, same with the oil delivery tube, clean the bar oil holes and groves.
Is it the right bar for the saw?
Try dumping the oil out and using some diesel in the oil tank to clean everything.

I use orange jug Stihl bar oil. Bar and chain are correct, holes in bar are clear, intake hose is clear and in good shape, delivery channel is clear. I will inspect the worm gear more closely when I get home. The pump appears to function correctly when out on the bench. The air bubbles in the reservoir really threw me for a loop. Fingers crossed it’s the worm gear.

Should the metal arm on the worm gear have any play in it at all? Mine will turn on the gear with some moderate pressure applied to it. It’s not loose and floppy.
