    Moisture Content “Frozen” Wood

Sounds like no easy answer. I’ll probably save my splitting for 40ish temps and mentally add a few %

    Moisture Content “Frozen” Wood

Yeah I think the tree service that delivered it just pulled it from a mixed pile. Ranges from 15-35% when I split in warmer weather

    Moisture Content “Frozen” Wood

Anyone know of meters that will temp correct? Or any rules of thumb - “add x% to the reading when below y degrees”?

    Moisture Content “Frozen” Wood

This being my first year burning, I have been resplitting almost 100% of the splits that go into my stove and moisture content. The ones with <=20% go in the stove - the rest go into the next year pile. Past several days it’s been lows in the teens and highs in the thirties. Outside of the...

Alderlea a dirt magnet? (checking out a sour review)

I’ve only had it a few months, but I don’t find my Alderlea to be difficult to keep looking great. When it’s cool I just vacuum the ash that fell on the lip.

    Pacific Energy T6 baffle

I have mixed feelings, but my install is far from ideal. It’s crammed in an alcove made from an old wood fireplace. And I’m still new to wood burning. Wood is mix of oak and ash and whatever else the local tree guy delivered. I’ve split and measured everything before it goes it the stove...

    Pacific Energy T6 baffle

This year, and I did remove it. Didn’t see a gasket and the parts list doesn’t reference one

    Pacific Energy T6 baffle

I don’t have a gasket on my baffle, but I think I have a newer variant of the T6. Or is the baffle the white insulation material?

Left home feeling like a badass...

I finally was able to get it in with the 8lb maul. Seems like getting the right weight and velocity is tricky. Too little and you don’t go anywhere too much and it bounces in and out. Just right it wedges in just a bit deeper and let’s you take a bigger swing next time.

Left home feeling like a badass...

I don’t know if it’s me or this split. I just precut a 1” deep groove to seat the wedge. I can’t even get the wedge to the bottom of the groove. I can’t even get it to feel tight. The wood feels made of concrete. It’s not budging at all to let the wedge in. I know I can saw it half...

    Alderlea T6 maintenance checks

Is that the same as the boost tube cover? It looks fine but the whole area was packed with ashes. I cleaned it out. The manual says to use up to 20” length and load “end wise” I’ve been using splits up to 19” and loading N/S. Those hang well over the boost manifold and I think contribute to...

    Alderlea T6 maintenance checks

https://www.pacificenergy.net/support/support/maintenance1/ What is the boost tube cover? Is it the same as the boost manifold? Any opinions? I see some creosote on the riser tube and the window gasket is peeled away from the front. Doesn’t seem like it’s leaking by though. Any...

The grenade wedge kept popping OUT when I hit it with the fiskars or the 8lb maul. I’m not sure when or how to use that particular tool yet.
