    Still without new fireplace!!

Looks tight! Is that an exterior wall? You could insulate and seal it as long as you maintain clearances.

Started new install for FP30 (Pacific Energy)

Looks real clean, nice work! It seems that most of us have ended up restricting our air intake so maybe being further away will help? Mine is only about 2 foot from the unit and I have metal tape over 2/3 of it, chimney terminates about 23 or 27 feet away. It was simply playing around with it...

    Still without new fireplace!!

Pioneer II looks quite similar to the FP30 Arch with Craftsman surround. Specs are equally similar from what I could see. The only thing I recall, and you probably have noticed this, is that QuadraFire will offer discounts throughout the year, as did Pacific Energy. When we purchased both the...

    Still without new fireplace!!

We installed a Northstar at our previous home and just recently a FP30. I do preference the FP 30 more but that may be because we learned things from our first install to improve or prevent with the second. Both were pricey... I, like you, preference the single door of the FP 30. The...

Started new install for FP30 (Pacific Energy)

Welcome to the forum!! We love to see pictures so thanks for posting those!! Some have mentioned a rattle when the remote kit fans were on, perhaps that gap will prevent that. We have two kits and both look similar, a bit of a gap on 3 sides and we don't get the vibration issue others have...

Advice about insulation on the heat duct.

I do like the clean lines of the rectangle door! Ours was ridiculously priced as well... That fiber looks appropriate, but I am not professional just a do it yourselfer.

Advice about insulation on the heat duct.

I posed a similar questions to my installer. I questioned about heat loss and efficiency of air movement, as my remote ducts are going down to the basements I wanted the best chance at pulling the heat down. He understood and decided to use type B vent. I am unable to provide hard data that...

Has anybody tried the EPA's Burnwise woodshed plan or similar plan?

The link didn't work for me so I searched and came up with this: https://www.epa.gov/sites/production/files/2018-10/documents/storageshed2018.pdf Plus I just love posting pictures!

FP 30 Getting ready for install

    1) I prefer the hearth raised so that is a bit easier on the knees when loading. Plus it's nice to sit and warm your back, for a few seconds. Here is a scale drawing I drew for our install. each box is 4 inches. I forgot to take into account the hearthstone height of 1.5 inches. So like...

    Your favorite wood

Beech I have 30 acres of mixed hardwoods, including American Beech. I favor the beech because it is the lightest to move around when wet/green, it dries quicker in my opinion, splits much easier as well, I can't sale it for as much as the red or white oak when considering lumber prices. These...

FP 30 Arch with Craftsman - Pacific Energy

We did vent the air to the basement. We did utilize both warm air kits for this. We did this based on a previous install as our "fireplace room" would get too hot. That room had 8 foot ceilings. If I had to do our install again I would NOT do the remote heat kits. I now know that our...

KozyHeat Z42 vs. ??? Any bigger, better ZC fireplaces?

We installed the Pacific Energy FP30 Arch recently and have been quite impressed. My wife loads it around 3 or 4PM and we have enough coals the NEXT MORNING to get a fire going quickly with outside temps around 20. Thermostat kicks on between 10-12PM set at 68 and house typically gets up to 72...

    New PE FP30 with questions.

This can be done with the craftsman surround. I have the thermometer in this location(no idea what temps I should be getting in this spot). I have to open the door and then it can attachmagnetically to the unit. The door closes in front of it. To remove it I have to open the door as there...

I don't right off. It's a vinyl box. At the top you can see a bit of the stainless steel cap as it overhangs about 2 inches. Then the pipe protrudes a foot or two above, with a round termination cap. Height was determined by the slope of roof and stock length of pipe.

    pacific energy fp30 install

We did not. But, I could see someone who wants a turnkey install paying that much to have someone find, transport, cut to size, finishing, mounting,etc.... Probably depends on where you live and the availability of old barns and what species timber you are after. I should say the main mantel...

    PE FP 30 Arch questions.

Connecting to the HVAC seems appropriate from an air movement perspective, HOWEVER, this would need to be a manufacturer option and the FP30, from my understanding, does not have this in the manual. Like begreen said check with PE or if you have an installer check with them and they will check...
