Ashley was a brand name with a long history - was with King stoves for awhile and both brands were purchased by Martin Industries. Martin then went bankrupt and US Stove ended up with some of the designs.
Ashley made some of the first airtight thermostatically controlled wood stoves, which were a major advance over the earlier models. These would easily burn overnight and were extremely popular throughout the south, especially in the (cold) mountain areas.

The famous model is shown below on the right of the image - partially. It is oval shaped with cast door, top and bottom and sheet metal jacket.
