Going on the pellet world tour. Trying out different brands.
I wish I had done this. Instead I bought 2 tons based on a neighbors recommendation and they are terrible. Few BTU's and very difficult to heat in this frigid weather we've had in New England this week. Tried a new softwood pellet from Maine yesterday and it was amazing. Now what do I do with 1 1/2 tons of useless pellets in my garage? :(

Hey LynnM, sorry to hear that. Sometimes you can mix a quarter or half of the bad pellets in with your good ones to help burn them off quicker or max out the feed rate and burn them on high. I had to do that with some subpar TSC badged pellets and Cheat River pellets.

We really loved Lignetics in our Lennox Bella. It was partly due to minimum ash and ease of clean up. Moving on to Harman Allure, 50 continued with them, although cleaning ash pan was not needed as often due to the larger pan. We moved to a new (old) home and a 2008 Harman Accentra Insert, and a different location to pick up pellets. Lignetics were not available locally. We tried the high end Douglas Fir at Tractor Supply. Really nice, but so pricey($9 per bag). SO we did a little experiment with the $6 basic Tractor Supply model. It burns almost as well in our stove so we have switched. More ash, but as far as heat and lasting power, very similar. The ash is going on the Rhubarb Patch!

I will add that Hubby is building a bulk storage bin so eventually we will be at the mercy of Sandri out of Greenfield, MA and their delivery trucks.
