Fantastic transformation of that room. You are going to love the heat! I really like your choice of mantles and stone color. The craftsman surround really adds to the character too. Well done!

Great looking install. You will like the heat for years to come. Make sure you learn the behavior on this before leaving unattended. Took me a few burns to become "comfortable". Now it's light, adjust and forget for many hours.

Wow nice job. If you don't mind me asking how much do you have into the project? I have a room similar size and opted for a free stander mainly due to cost. Wanted to go your route but the quotes I was getting were near the 20k range. You did a excellent job....very nice.

I'd say it's a little high - closer to 17k
$3500 - fireplace
$500 craftsman surround
$1000 - two remote hit kits
$1000 - pipe
$250 - stainless steel chase top
$1000 - new siding/shingles/house wrap/gutter parts/misc
$700 - stone/metal mesh/screws/type s mortar
$1000 - mantels

Did you really spend $1000 on those 2 mantels?
We did not. But, I could see someone who wants a turnkey install paying that much to have someone find, transport, cut to size, finishing, mounting,etc....

Probably depends on where you live and the availability of old barns and what species timber you are after.

I should say the main mantel is 80 inches long and 9 x 10. The top is remnant being 6 in tall and I think 74 wide and only 2.5 thick.

Do you have a pic of the outside finished?

I don't right off. It's a vinyl box. At the top you can see a bit of the stainless steel cap as it overhangs about 2 inches. Then the pipe protrudes a foot or two above, with a round termination cap. Height was determined by the slope of roof and stock length of pipe.

Ok, I was going to say looks like about $200 worth of wood. I was going to start selling mantels.

And I understand that could be an end price installed bu contractor in no time.
