John King & I just returned from a recent NEHPA Meeting in Albany, NY. More retailers should attend these gatherings because the information shared during the "round table discussion" between retailers, distributors, manufacturer's reps., and HPA representatives on many important subjects is invaluable. Our venture, Hearthlink International (Randolph, VT) has been receiving numerous calls & emails from retailers, former customers, and former colleagues regarding Morso products, and the distribution network. Morso stoves are available for consumers via specialty retailers only.   Given that, we're pleased to let everyone know that Valor Heating, Ltd., and Hearthlink have completed our initial appointments for sales representation of the Morso Quality Cast Iron Stove line. Please contact John or I at the email addresses below for your local Morso contact.   In Canada and the states of WA, OR, CA, ID and NV, distribution will be handled by Miles Industries of Vancouver, BC. For more information, please contact Martin Miles at (604) 984 3496 or <mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]   Areas of the U.S. currently not covered by our existing network will be handled directly through Hearthlink International until a representative is appointed. For more information, please contact John King at (802) 728-9342, or <mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]. You can also reach me at (802) 728-4684, or email at <mailto:[email protected]>[email protected]. Best of luck for the selling season. (back) Subject: Re: Ideas for competing in "price war" vent frees From: "Roger Sanders" <[email protected]> Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 20:53:17 -0400   Fran,     In all sincerity, the best I can come with is simply WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU EVEN WANT TO?   Does a gross margin of $20 or so make much sense? Can you even stay in business?   Wouldn't it be better for everyone if you let those builders needing "price war" vent frees to buy them by the dump truck load, directly from the manufacturers.   It seems that there are dozens of hearth product and related catagories that you could compete in (either wholesale or retail) that still have margins.
