(back) Subject: Ah, the joys of online shopping From: "Craig Issod" <[email protected]> Date: Mon, 13 Dec 1999 12:35:21 -0500 While trying to order a printer at the online store ecost.com , I got the following message when trying to finalize my order: Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a03e9' Out of memory ? Now keep in mind that this is after i have emtered my credit card, picked the products, signed on as a customer, etc. I called the customer service line and the recording said" Sorry, we only accept orders from our online web site" Web commerce still has a l o n g way to go. At the least, it's nice to have a "server too busy" error message instead of knowing the specifics of their computer code problems! ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Issod HearthNet at http://www.hearth.com [email protected] Everything your Hearth Desires ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------
(back) Subject: Hang out with me From: "Craig Issod" <[email protected]> Date: Mon, 13 Dec 1999 17:10:25 -0500 The new HearthNet forum is getting quite active. There are already lots of questions and people looking for hearth-related help. Here's where I hope YOU come in. I know it's a busy time of year...but please take a moment to cruise to the forum at: http://www.hearth.com/ceilidh/ceilidh.html Take a look at some of the questions and reply if you know the answers. The Forum allows you to reply without registering...simply hit the guest button at the bottom of the login screen that will come up when you hit the "reply" button. If you do register, there are other benefits including getting automatic emails of replies to your posting(s). Not only will you help the public, but you can also promote your own business. Although blatant commercialism is discouraged, you can use your signature (which could include your web site URL) when you post answers. Also, if your product or service IS what the customer is looking for, you can give a soft pitch like "Our company makes one of the types of stoves you are looking for, as do others" Notice the soft sell. And..even if you don't have anything to sell, share your knowledge with the others. It will help promote the industry...if nothing else, consider it to be paying me (and HearthNet) back to the free subscription to this list! ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Issod HearthNet at http://www.hearth.com [email protected] Everything your Hearth Desires ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------
