Does anyone know of another unit that will build into a wall? Raymond D. Goldman   With liberty and justice for all who can afford it

We have a local man, that lives in a hamlet, who is burning old railway ties as his major fuel source. Not just a few ties, but a tractor trailor load of these things are piled up very neatly, ready to burn, right next to the outdoor furnace. This particular system is located right on the side of a heavily travelled road, and has always caused a bit of a problem with the smoke sitting low, and reducing visibility at that particular spot on the raod. Now this guy is burning something that has raised a fair of amount of concern from neighbors. After being asked by a local building inspector if there was anything I could think of to do that would discourage "Mr. Creosote" from burning his nasty railroad ties, I placed a call to the Ministry of the Environment. I thought that was probably the place that might be able to talk some sense into this fellow.......WRONG....I was told that the Ministry of the Environment does not respond to calls regarding outdoor furnaces! Now, I am baffled about two things....if the Ministry won't respond to this type of situation, who will? Also, why will they respond to a call if air quality is affected by the products of combustion that are released into the atmosphere as a result of a wood heat appliance located inside a house, but won't respond if the same problem is created by an outdoor appliance? I'm still calling, trying to find someone at the Ministry to talk to about this situation, but in the mean time, would like to hear of anyone else that may have had a similar type of situation. On another note altogether....we "installed" a Dimplex electric fireplace on our showroom floor. The big joke amongst us all was how wonderful to have something so simple to install, and totally service free! HA! Next morning we arrived to the store to find that our service free unit required some repairs. It was nothing too serious, just the motor that causes a roller to move and make a nice "flame" pattern. We still have to chuckle about this every time someone refers to this fireplace as a service free unit ...   Vanessa Percival Embers Perth, Ontario Canada [email protected]
