If possible I need them in electronic media (email or disk - WordPerfect format preffered). Please email [email protected]   Thanks for your efforts.

However, Travis industries has encouraged retailers in my area to expliot this concern beyond good taste. My cloeset competitor goes to church meetings put on by a televangelist. These meeting are about the y2k issue. They spend hours drilling into these people about the power grids not working in the year 2000. About how half of their neighbors will be dead from lack of heat within the first 30 days. All the usual doom and gloom of the world ending. And at the end of hours of this my local Travis competitor is introduced and proceeds to sell these people wood burning stoves that a lot of them cannot even afford. Now, with that in mind and with the propensity of Travis Industries to stand behind this kind of sell as many stoves as you can at all costs, it is my opinion that they have a major responsibility to give back to the people that have actually been hurt by a storm of Biblical proportions. (back) Subject: Y2K Ads From: Craig Issod <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 28 Nov 1998 20:57:51 -0500   As I stated in my earlier post, I somewhat agree that Y2K marketing can be overdone. Remember folks, whether you believe in Buddhism or not:   "Avoid Error"   and perhaps more importantly   "The Middle Way" (Moderation in all things)...   But then again, remember that Travis (Lopi) has a history of overdoing certain things. I still remember those trade show parties with the carved ice, butter and chocalate covered strawberries.   And how 'bout the BEEFCAKE HUNK that sells their Avalon Stoves. My office manager spent so much time fussing over him that I lost productivity hours!   Dealers who find ads in bad taste should not use them. We rarely used ad mats verbatim in our shop. Usually we'd just use the pictures and make up all our own text. After all, each market is different.   No, I would not feel good preaching the end of the world at a local church group (or anywhere for that matter). Truth is that a stove purchase makes a lot more sense than many of the "optional" purchases folks are making these days. I think we can communicate this without feeding on paranoia.   I hold faith that the bills (as usual) will still show up in the mail after 1999...and that this list, HearthNet, the Internet, Electricity, Supermarkets and our industry will be around for many years to come.       ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Issod HearthNet at http://www.hearth.com [email protected] Everything your Hearth Desires ------------------------------------------------------ Buddha says "avoid error" ------------------------------------------------------
