A dealer in South Dakota is trying to replace some 7" Van Packer pipe. Are these guys still around, even if they aren't marketing to the hearth industry? I believe they were out of Illinois. Thanks for any help. Dan Melcon

From: [email protected] (by way of Craig Issod) Date: Wed, 25 Nov 1998 17:35:33 -0500 I for one would like to see Travis Industries make a similar $50 dollar per stove commitment for Central America. After all they seem to be the one making the biggest deal out of the Y2k issue and exploiting peoples concerns about that issue. So if they are truley concerned about more than just making money I think its time they step up to the plate with a little help. Greg Hopkins A Cozy Fireplace
(back) Subject: RE: Former Message From: Craig Issod <[email protected]> Date: Wed, 25 Nov 1998 17:43:34 -0500 The list should not really be used to compare who gives what. We have no idea what any company or the people working there are doing for the many charitable causes out there. I wish Bill Gates would give a few billion immediately to Central America....after all, he would not even feel the loss. However, when we start counting other folks charity, I think we may lose the point. Let's all give and do what we can. As far as Y2K, since many customers are walking into our stores asking about stoves for this reason, it makes sense that companies would use the theme. However, I might agree that it could be better to hang back a bit on this one. If a customer thinks he is being taken advantage of, they are less likely to feel comfortable. The truth is that Y2K, Ice Storms, Civil Unrest, Power Failures, Fuel Shortages, Cleaner Air, Independence, etc. are ALL reasons why many people want stoves. Nothing wrong with that. These seems like better reasons than "I just had to have one". ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Issod HearthNet at http://www.hearth.com [email protected] Everything your Hearth Desires ------------------------------------------------------ Buddha says "avoid error" ------------------------------------------------------
