Vent free heaters, logs, fireplaces, have been marketed and sold with a misleading impression to the consumer. Too many manufactuers and retailers of the product do not educate the consumer properly on the product. Additionally what education if any does the consumer recieve if the vent free product is bouight at a Home Depot type of operation. The consumer must be properly educated to the dos and don'ts of these appliances. These appliances are fine if utilized within the realm of their original intentions. But the downside is, How many consumers are using the appliances as a primary heat source? A vast majority of them. As an industry we may well feel the brunt of the consumers wrath when down the road the problems do surface big time. I would agree with the warnings as posted by Consumers Report. I feel that each of us should for the liability of our own businesses and our industry take a similar stance when we market and sell these products. Jerry Isenhour
