What we do is tag the unit ,shut the gas off at the unit, send a certified letter. If it is at the time of a startup we do not even do the startup till things have been corrected. The big thing is the letter, make sure it is certified and tells what is wrong and how you left the unit and who you told . steve hanson Hearth and Home Design Center Hudson, WI   [email protected] wrote:   > Hearthlist Digest #536 - Tuesday, November 21, 2000 > > VC2050 > by "gail english" <[email protected]> > unsafe mantel > by <[email protected]> > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Subject: VC2050 > From: "gail english" <[email protected]> > Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 18:19:01 -0500 > > Hi, > Does anyone have a Vermont Castings wood fireplace: VC2050? (back) Subject: VC Superhearth Fireplaces From: "Coosa Stove & Fireplace" <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 25 Nov 2000 19:55:53 -0500   FYI - anyone who has recently sold/installed a Majestic Superhearth needs to check the firebox and make sure there is two plates hanging down that are smoke diverters. There have been some problems with smoking on that box and Technical advises they have developed a retro fit baffle kit. Each size box has a different kit so you need to order the correct size for each box. If you sold these boxes this summer and your customers are just now starting fires, be prepared for some irate calls. Even with straight chimney runs of the correct height, there is still a smoking problem. So, don't find out the hard way (like we did). I saw no bulletin from the company on this and only know about it after receiving one of those irate calls and a possible large dry cleaning bill for a customers newly purchased furniture! Good luck. We use it with our windows and it works fine. We have all the Travis and = VC inventory numbers in it now and it is very easy to work with. Any questions. Call me or e-mail.
