This vented log has no built in safety device, such as an ODS, that will shut = off the unit in the event that the oxygen level falls below 18.5%. All vent free units, built for bedroom use, must have a built in = thermostat. That solves the overheating problem. As for the screen in front of the = vented fireplace, all vent free bedroom systems also have a screen or grill to prevent flying blankets from causing fires. Joe Petras

Is this true? When? - The units I sold when I was in retail (2+ years ago) did not have thermostats on bedroom units as I remember. ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Issod HearthNet at http://www.hearth.com [email protected] Everything your Hearth Desires ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------
