(back) Subject: C02 and flue protection From: "Harry Killinger" <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 4 Nov 2000 12:06:38 -0500   We are installing a Dutchwest (large) wood stove in our den and we would greatly appreciate it if you could advise us regarding C02 and also chimneys.   1. Do you know if our Dutchmaster wood stove will emit C02 in our den, and if so, will it be a highly concentrated amount - even though the door to the stove will be kept shut and smoke will go up chimney? We are asking this because if the C02 concentration is high we would like to put all of our house plants in this room to benefit from the increased C02, or possibly in a solarium next to the den and then, with the use of a fan, blow the C02 into solarium to benefit the house plants.   2. The second question is: Is it necessary to enclose our 6" flue with a brick chimney, since our stove pipe in the "basement" den will be going up and through a 6" flue that goes up and through the floor of our living room above and then continues up to a cathedral ceiling and then out through the roof. We are getting conflicting advice about this, and just want to insure that we don't take unnecessary risks with a "naked" flue (!) going through our living room floor from the den below.   Thank you so much for such a comprehensive and informative web site. It has helped us a lot.   Harry and Pam British Columbia, Canada (brrrrr)

Last year, however, I did have problems with = the online system. Next to land-line human contact the fax machine still rules.
