Why should you offer service to a guy that bought a gas log over the internet. What is in it for you?   The guy bought the log set over the internet and had a serious question about its safety. The "wholetailer" he bought it from would offer him no help. There was no phone number for the manufacturer with the installation instructions. As the HPA webmaster, I got him the phone number which was the least I could do.   What I was trying to get across is the fact that some manufacturers (notibly Travis Industries) do not want their product sold over the net because there will be no service from the seller. And they are right! As Joe Citizen, my opinion is that it is irresponsible to sell over the Internet, products that have the potential and likelyhood of being installed incorrectly with the real danger of loss of property, loss of goodwill, and chance of loss of life.   The point is: Gas logs, gas stoves, ventless gas logs, woodstoves, and pellet stoves should not be sold over the internet.   > > Dear Jim, > My reply is, "Steve, I am sorry you are having these difficulties. > My liability insurance will not allow me to service a project with > which I am unfamiliar. (back) Subject: New Expo Hours From: "Larry James" <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 4 Sep 1999 11:22:02 -0500   For those on you on this list that have not yet signed up to get your HPA CEO Report by email this may be a news flash. The HPA Exec Committee has voted to extend the hours of next years EXPO! Here is an excerpt from the Report which I just received today: EXPO Report New Exhibit Hours: The Executive Committee has approved an increase in the days and hours for EXPO 2000 to: Thu., Mar 16 9:00am - 5:00pm Fri., Mar. 17 9:00am - 7:00pm Sat., Mar 18 9:00am - 5:00pm Sun., Mar 19 10:00am - 3:00pm http://www.hearthassociation.org/expo/ I personally think this is terrific news! If you all remember there was a discussion on Hearth list after EXPO was over this past spring and I and some others shared our opinion that the show was getting too big to see in the allotted time. I felt like I missed a good part of the show because of it's shortened length. So this increase in the length of the show is very welcome news indeed.
