(back) Subject: A News Tidbit... From: Craig Issod <[email protected]> Date: Wed, 28 Jul 1999 23:03:33 -0500   Here's an interesting paragraph on Home Depots "pull" with manufacturers... -------------   Home Depot, the largest U.S. retailer of home-improvement goods, asked its suppliers not to sell their products directly to consumers over the Internet, or risk having their products dropped from Home Depot shelves.   Home Depot, in a letter to more than 1,000 vendors including Black & Decker, Scotts, and General Electric, said it may hesitate to do business with suppliers that also market their products online because they would then become competitors. Home Depot said it would prefer to partner with them on selling via the Internet, said company spokeswoman Carol Schumacher.   Manufacturers are treading carefully to find ways to get a piece of the lucrative and fast-growing Internet market without angering the companies that sell their products.
