Any stove manufactured by a reputable manufacturer that remembers who
supported them thru thick and thin and made them known and desirable {famous}.
A better stove than VC is one not found in a  discount store chain.A better
stove than VC is one that did not sellout to a greedy comgolerent, usually
foreign ,that thinks they can sell to distributors,mass murchants, all your
other competitors, the entire heating and air conditoning industry, and
you, and then can't understand why you would be so ungrateful as  to drop
such a great line.
A couple that come to .mind immediately are Jotul and Hearthstone

     I don't handle VC or Heattech.  Jotul makes  great gas stoves.  We
usually install at 4200' to 10,000' above sea level  and all propane. 
Jotul produces one of the few stoves that can take these  tough conditions
and still produce nice flame and good heat.     Another plus for this brand
is their commitment  to the specialty dealer.   Christie Bishop

Heatech is a line that is very comparable to VC and very price competitive.
I don't know where you are, but you can contact Heatech at 802-295-5211.
Millie Chase,(formerly with VC), can answer any questions you may have and
get you in contact with a Rep for your area.  We are fortunate enough to
represent this line in the Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Southern
Illinois, and Oklahoma areas.  If you are in these areas, e mail us at
[email protected] and we can get information to you.
 
This line offers quality castings and the capability to "customize" each
stove to  customers decor.  There are also space heating, both gas and
electric, units that can fill needs that cannot be taken care of with gas
stoves and inserts.
 
This line should prove to be DYNAMITE and dealers in our area are very
receptive to the concepts they offer.
