The Hearth Products show in Phoenix was 100% better than last year. It seemed more companies decided to bring out more and better products. I was impressed with the Central Boiler outdoor location showing the wood fired boilers. This Y2K thing has really changed our sales and by the look of all the wood products everyone has been affected. I found it interesting speaking to other hearth folks that wood sales seem to be growing only in areas where gas has been available. Guess we all want what we don't have. I was also amazed at the all the new companies offering stainless steel grills. Must be a great market for growth. Think I'll sell the store and take up a torch. After 19 years of hearth products I must be getting jaded. Actually I came late and left early and haven't had a chance to review what my other staff thought of the show. They didn't come back with any sunburns so they must have been in attendance.   I left the show early this year and spent most of a week looking at the Big Ditch....in northern Arizona...and other dead stuff...... I also managed to get snowbound for two days in Sedona. ( I didn't even get a chance to drive out to the famous Sedona power vortexes.) The desert looks strange with cacti juxtapositioned with 2ft of snow..... and me in a little red convertible. I am definately going back to Arizona during next years HPA show in Baltimore. kg-one
